Play Intermediate Chess
Challenge a stronger AI opponent at the Intermediate level. Practice tactical patterns, pawn structure concepts, and endgame technique against an AI that plays more aggressively and strategically.
The Intermediate AI plays with greater tactical awareness and can execute multi-move combinations. It understands basic pawn structure principles and will target weaknesses in your position. Expect a genuine challenge that rewards careful play.
Tips for this level:
- ▸Look for tactical opportunities: forks, pins, skewers, and discovered attacks.
- ▸Pay attention to pawn structure — avoid creating weaknesses in your own camp.
- ▸Activate your rooks by placing them on open or half-open files.
- ▸Do not rush the attack — make sure your king is safe first.
- ▸When ahead in material, simplify into an endgame by trading pieces.

Tips & Strategies
Centralize Your Pieces
Place pieces on central squares for maximum activity
Centralized pieces control more squares and can quickly switch between attack and defense. Look for outposts on d5, e5, d4, e4.
Develop with Purpose
Each move should serve a specific goal
Don't just develop randomly. Ask yourself: Does this move improve my position? Does it create threats or defend weaknesses?
Control Key Squares
Identify and control important squares
Key squares (like d5, e5 for knights) can become powerful outposts. Control them before your opponent does.
