Play Amateur Chess
Play chess against a beginner-friendly AI opponent. The Amateur level is perfect for new players learning how chess pieces move, basic tactics, and fundamental opening principles.
The Amateur AI plays solid, logical moves without deep calculation. It will punish obvious blunders but will not exploit subtle positional weaknesses. This makes it an ideal sparring partner for players learning the fundamentals.
Tips for this level:
- ▸Focus on controlling the four central squares with your pawns and pieces.
- ▸Develop your knights and bishops before moving the same piece twice.
- ▸Castle early to keep your king safe behind a wall of pawns.
- ▸Try to avoid trading pieces unless the exchange gains you material.
- ▸Before each move, ask yourself: is my opponent threatening anything?

Tips & Strategies
Control the Center
Try to control the central squares (d4, d5, e4, e5)
Pieces in the center have maximum mobility and control more squares. This gives you a strategic advantage.
Develop Your Pieces
Move your knights and bishops out early
Developed pieces are more active and can participate in attacks. Avoid moving the same piece multiple times.
Castle Early
Castle your king to safety
A castled king is much safer than one stuck in the center. Aim to castle within the first 10 moves.
